WPIAL runner-up Burrell too much for C-L girls

PITTSBURGH – Clarion-Limestone kept it close for a while, but in the end WPIAL runner-up Burrell was too much for the Lady Lions to handle with the Lady Bucs getting a 55-27 win in the opening round of the PIAA Class AA girls’ basketball playoffs Friday night at North Hills High School.

C-L (16-10), the District 9 runner-up, trailed 16-6 at the end of the first quarter and 21-12 at halftime but a 17-4 third-quarter advantage broke the game open for Burrell (26-1), whose lone loss was in the WPIAL title game.

Alissa Burns led C-L with 12 points, while Lilly Port had seven.

Pepperdine recruit Sydney Bordonaro, a junior, led Burrell with 18 points with Natalie Myers adding 15.
