CLARION, Pa. – After its big win over Johnsonburg Friday night, the Elk County Catholic boys’ basketball team has unseated the Rams for the top spot in the 2014 Laurel Eye Clinic D9Sports.com Jan. 26 Basketball Rankings.

Meanwhile, the girls’ top team remains Karns City despite the Lady Gremlins loss Monday to Redbank Valley. A strong rebound effort against Cranberry, who was No. 6 at the time, Wednesday helped keep Karns City in the top spot with Bradford nipping on its heels.

A newcomer in the boys’ overall rankings is Karns City. The Gremlins (8-6) move into the Top 10 after wins thanks in part to wins over Keystone and Cranberry last week.

In the girls’ overall rankings, Clarion-Limestone drops out after being tied for eighth with three other teams last week after the Lady Lions loss to Venango Catholic Friday.

This is the fourth of six Laurel Eye Clinic/D9Sports.com District 9 Basketball Rankings.
