Rams Escape Raiders, 60-56

BROOKVILLE — With Lincoln Park on the horizon with a big matchup set for Tuesday night at home, the Johnsonburg Rams had to get out of Brookville Monday night with a hard-fought 60-56 win.

Even though the Rams led by as many as 20 points in the first half and 39-20 at halftime, the stubborn Raiders rallied back and had a chance to tie the game late. However, Tate Canavan’s 3-point shot with the Raiders down three with 15 seconds remaining fell short and the Rams improved to 6-0.

Cameron Grumley finished with 26 points, scoring 17 points in the first half after making seven of his first eight shots. Fellow all-state guard Cole Peterson wasn’t quite as impactful in the scoring column, but he still wound up with 11 points.

The Raiders (1-3) drilled eight 3-pointers, five of them coming in the second half to help them get back into the game. Senior guard Jack Huggins finished with 18 points, drilling five threes. Nate Shirts scored 17 points and Canavan finished with 10 points.
