Clearfield wins Class AAA title, Kane claims AML crown

CLEARFIELD 51, BRADFORD 7

BROCKWAY — Christian Lezzer accounted for six total touchdowns as Clearfield rolled to its fourth-straight District 9 Class AAA title with a 51-7 win over Bradford Friday.

Lezzer, a Boston College commit, scored on touchdown runs of 7, 29, 14 and 27, while also adding a pair of passing TDs, a 14-yard strike to tight end Wyatt Flanagan and a 12-yard score to his younger brother Ryan.

The Bison (10-0) capitalized on three first quarter turnovers by the Owls to build a 30-0 lead after the first quarter.

The Bison, who beat Bradford 49-0 in 2012’s championship game, also got a second-half touchdown on the ground from Bryce Craft.

Bradford broke the shutout with a three-yard TD run by freshman Tim Schuster that was set up by  a 59-yard pass from Zach Bartlebaugh to Sean Siffrinn.

Clearfield moves on the the District 5-6-8-9 sub-regional, while Bradford ends its season with  a record of 2-8.

AML championship game

KANE 36, SHEFFIELD 6

KANE – Kevin Cleer completed 15-of-22 passes for 151 yards and three touchdown as  Kane rolled to the AML title with a 36-6 win over Sheffield.

The Wolves led 14-0 at halftime thanks to a 1-yard scoring plunge by Cleer and a 10-yard scoring strike from the senior QB to top receiver Jeff Kocjancic.

John English scored on a 3-yard touchdown run and Cleer and Kocjancic connected again from 28 yards out to give Kane a commanding 29-0 lead in the third quarter.

Sheffield broke the shutout late in the third quarter with a 34-yard TD run from leading rusher Jareke Jackson. whp had 93 yards rushing before a 12-yard screen pass from Cleer to James Lingenfelter closed out the scoring for Kane.

Kane finished the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record, while Sheffield dropped to 5-5.

NOTES – It was the fourth AML title for Kane, which also won championships in 2002, 2007 and 2008 … Sheffield was making its first-ever appearance in the AML Title Game.
