District 6-9 Class AAAA Playoff Outlook

Note that all seedings are unofficial based on rules provided to D9Sports.com by the District 9 committee. Finally decisions on all seedings, lie with the District committees.

In the Class AAAA District 69 Regional, three of the four teams will definitely enter the postseason: DuBois, State College and Mifflin County. Most likely, Central Mountain will not enter, if the Wildcats do, they will be the fourth seed.

The other seeds are still to be determined. All three teams are in action this week with DuBois facing Slippery Rock, State College taking on Cumberland Valley and Mifflin County taking on Chambersburg.

If all three teams wins

DuBois is the top seed as long as one of the teams it beat – Franklin (vs. Oil City), Punxsutawney (vs. Northern Bedford), Bradford (vs. Clearfield), Brookville (vs. Clarion), Warren (vs. Titusville) or Meadville (vs. Conneaut) – wins OR Central Mountain loses to Jersey Short. State College would need all the teams DuBois beat to lose while Central Mountain tops Jersey Shore to create a tie with the Beavers for the top spot. A tiebreaker was not included in the criteria distributed to D9Sports.com by District 9. Mifflin County in this case is locked into the third seed.

If all three teams lose

It ends up being the same scenario as if all three teams won so see above.

If DuBois wins, State College wins and Mifflin County loses

It would be the same situation as if all three teams won – see above.

If DuBois wins, Mifflin County wins and State College loses

DuBois is the top seed. Mifflin County is the second seed if Williamsport beats Wyoming Valley West OR Harrisburg loses to Carlisle. If  Williamsport loses AND Harrisburg wins then the teams would be tied with the same number of Power Points, and a tiebreaker is unknown (although State College beat Mifflin County last week).

If State College wins, Mifflin County wins and DuBois loses

State College is the top seed. DuBois is the outright second seed as long as one of the teams it beat wins (see list above) OR two of the teams Mifflin County beat – Williamsport (vs. Wyoming Valley West), Central Mountain (vs. Jersey Shore), Carlisle (vs. Harrisburg) – lose. Mifflin County can only be the outright second seed if all three of the teams above that it beat win and all of teams DuBois’ beat lose. There is a scenario were if two of the teams Mifflin County beat win and none of the teams DuBois beat win that would create a tie between the teams and a tiebreaker is unknown (although Mifflin County beat DuBois in Week One).

If State College wins, DuBois loses and Mifflin County loses

State College is the top seed, DuBois is the second seed and Mifflin County is the third seed

If Mifflin County wins, State College loses and DuBois loses

Then it becomes a mess with DuBois starting out with a minimum of 680 Power Points, Mifflin County with 660 and State College with 650. That leads to numerous combinations seen above having any one of the teams holding the top seed, second seed or third seed. If this happens, check back when all the games are done.
