Brockway Rovers Three-Peat Class A Soccer Title

BRADFORD — The Brockway Rovers won their third straight District 9 Class A soccer title with a 6-2 win over second-seeded Port Allegany Thursday night at Parkway Field.

Junior James Matson scored three goals to lead the fourth-seeded Rovers (15-4-1) to their second win of the season over the Gators (16-4). Aaron Barraclough, Jarrett Esposito and Erik Botwright also scored for the Rovers, who rallied from a 2-1 deficit arly in the second half and scored five goals in the final 33 minutes.

Barraclough and Port’s Eli Knapp scored in the first half. Tyler Kittilson’s goal off a free kick seven minutes in the second half gave the Gators a 2-1 advantage.

It’s the eighth title overall for the Rovers, who advance to the state tournament next Tuesday against the WPIAL (District 7) runner-up at a District 9 site to be determined. Sewickley Academy and Beaver County Christian play for the WPIAL title Saturday.
